Dexamethasone

Dexamethasone enhances carbohydrate and metabolism, increases Haemoglobin, red cells, modify  Mediated Immune (CHI) response and also have potent anti-inflammatory action. Prolonged use may lead to suppression of the pituitary-adrenal axis; which may cause secondary adrenocortical insufficiency.

INDICATIONS

animals-Acute inflammation, bursitis, tendinitis, arthritis, allergic skin diseases, hypersensitivity reactions (Asthma), shock, tissue damage, toxemia, stress from ‘trauma, disease, environment, emotions and fatigue, ophthalmic inflammatory conditions

DOSAGE

IM/IV (TOTAL DOSE)

Cattle                                              10-30mg

Calf, Goat, Sheep, Pig                   2-5mg

Dog                                                 0.5-2mg

Cat                                                    0.25-0.5mg

INDUCTION OF PARTURITION

Large animals                  40mg IV

PRECAUTIONS

Late pregnancy, recent major surgery, deep corneal ulceration, diabetes mellitus, cardiac insufficiency, and renal diseases.
