COMPOSITION
Lactulose (10gm)

Mechanism of Action

Laxative: Lactulose draws water into the intestines, softening stool.
Ammonia Reducer (Liver Disease): Lowers colon pH, trapping ammonia and preventing its absorption into the bloodstream.

Clinical Uses

Constipation: Softens stool by drawing water into intestines.
Liver Disease: Lowers blood ammonia levels by trapping it in the colon.

Dosage

Here’s a general guideline:

Dogs & Cats:

Constipation: 1 mL per 4.5 kg body weight, every 8 hours (or as needed) by mouth (PO)
Liver Disease:
Dogs: 0.5 mL per kg body weight, every 8 hours by mouth (PO)
Cats: 2.5-5 mL per cat, every 8 hours by mouth (PO)
Large Animals (Horses & Cattle):

0.25-0.5 mL per kg body weight, per day by mouth (PO)
