Uterine infections: A major cause of repeat breeding in dairy animals

Uterine infections occur in nearly 50% of dairy animals after parturition leading to disruption in follicle development, embryo quality and maternal recognition of pregnancy thereby reducing fertility.

(Bromfield et al., 2015)

The most common causes of uterine infections are

Dystocia, Prolapse, Abortion/Stillbirth, ROP

Levofloxacin, Ornidazole & Alpha Tocopherol Intrauterine Solution

Levofloxacin is a broad spectrum third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic which works against both gram negative and gram positive bacteria by inhibiting DNA replication.

Ornidazole belongs to nitroimidazole group which works effectively against anaerobic bacteria invading the uterus.

Alpha tocopherol

Alpha tocopherol is also known as vitamin E which helps to improve the uterine health by improving the immunity and preventing cellular damage.

Levofloxacin, Ornidazole & Alpha tocopherol combination is more than 90% effective to control endometritis in dairy cattle.
